Buying Collared Eye Bolts Metric Thread
When choosing your collared eye bolts metric thread there is a number of things to consider.
Firstly and probably most importantly the shank size and SWL.
The width of the shank also refers to its ‘M’ number as they are typically named throughout the lifting gear industry and beyond. Thus an M16 collared eye bolt will have a shank width of 16mm.
The safe working load will differ between sizes and will also be affected by the way in which it will be used. (see angled loading below).
The length of the threaded shank is also important as it will need to fit into a specific cavity. Lengths range from 18mm up to 112mm according to the size and SWL.
The inside and the outside diameter and height of the eye, the collar thickness and more can be found in the specification table below.
It goes without saying that the safe working load (SWL) will differ between the shank sizes. For example when used for a vertical lift an M14 has a SWL of 0.5 tonne whilst an M18 will be 1 tonne, and an M52 can handle 12.5 tonnes. See the specs for more.
Other Eye Bolt Thread Types
If a metric collared eye bolt not suit your specific recess then we can also supply the BSW Whitworth (British Standard) threaded version as well as the USA UNC type. Make sure your eyebolt matches the thread of the recess where it will be fitted to ensure the bolt fits correctly and safely.
